Learning Objectives

These scenarios simulate a clinical experience that promotes the application of knowledge and skills related to critical thinking and clinical decision-making, related to advocating for people in a domestic abuse situation.

The learning objectives of this simulation game are to:

  • to critically explore the importance of a strengths-based approach when dealing with sensitive issues such as domestic abuse relationships
  • to critically explore the mechanisms of domestic abuse and to demonstrate the importance of empathy
  • to explore how to complete a Merit form with a sensitive approach
  • to gain confidence in asking questions about domestic abuse
  • to understand the policies and processes following disclosure and discuss referrals to children’s services
